Asian pears have a long culinary history in most traditional Asian cuisines.
Grating an Asian pear
Ground pears are commonly used as a healthy sweetener in vinegar- or soy sauce-based sauces and because they contain enzymes that tenderize meat, they are also often used in marinades.
Two classic and delicious Korean dishes that use Asian pears are Bulgogi (Korean Marinated Steak) and Galbi (Korean BBQ Short Rib).
